Welcome to my next blog. This year Graham and I will be celebrating 25 years of marriage ( yes I know we would have got less for murder!). We apologise to those who would have preferred a party but we decided to tick another holiday off the Wish List! So on the 12th September we will be heading off for 17 nights in Rajasthan, India. We are really looking forward to the sights, sounds and "smells" of India although I am slightly apprehensive. Everyone we know, who has been, have told us that it will be a holiday to remember and if our holiday in Tanzania is anything to go by, it will be fantastic.
Once again we have chosen Audley travel to put our itinerary together and it looks exactly what we asked for...smaller hotels with an opportunity to see the real India whilst also enjoying the main attractions the region offers.
So, in summary, we will be flying from Heathrow to Delhi overnight on the 12th September where we will stay for two nights before catching the train to Agra.
We will celebrate the night of our Silver Wedding in Agra at the Oberoi Amarvillas overlooking the Taj Mahal before another early start for a dawn trip to see this wonder of the world.
We then leave, with our driver, to head to Jaipur where we will stay three nights before heading towards Jodphur. On route we will stay at Fort Barli which is a "hidden gem in rural Rajasthan dating back to 1675". We spend one night before completing our drive to Jodphur where we spend two nights.
We then head towards Udaipur, staying en-route at Chanoud Garh which is another fort located in the centre of Chanoud village where we will stay in the home of the Singh family, we will get the opportunity to visit the village.
Our final stop is Udaipur where we will spend 5 nights overlooking the lake with time to explore this lovely city but also to relax and reflect on 25 years of mariage!
We will arrive back in the UK on the 29th where we are looking forward to being re-united with Will who returns from 4 months at sea during our holiday....hopefully he will have done all his washing and the house will still be tidy 😱
I will attempt to blog as often as possible but WiFi is not guaranteed in all hotels!
